About GPEN

Global Peace Education Network, Inc. ("GPEN," "we," "us," or "our") is a United States nonprofit corporation.

Eligibility and acceptable use

You must be at least 13 years old to use the site. You agree to use GPEN’s services lawfully and respectfully. You may not impersonate another person or organization, submit information you do not have permission to share, interfere with the site, attempt unauthorized access, introduce malicious code, or use the Network to harass, defraud, or harm others.

Open use of GPEN materials

Unless a page or item states otherwise, original text and educational resources created and owned by GPEN are available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Under that license, you may copy, redistribute, adapt, translate, and use those materials commercially. You must give appropriate credit to Global Peace Education Network, link to the CC BY 4.0 license, indicate whether changes were made, and not suggest that GPEN endorses you, your organization, or your use.

This permission does not automatically cover GPEN’s name, logo, trademarks, or other official marks. It also does not cover photographs, videos, quotations, documents, or other materials supplied by third parties or identified as belonging to someone else. Those materials remain subject to their own permissions and restrictions.

Using Network profiles

Public GPEN Network profiles may be viewed and linked to. They are not automatically licensed for copying, republishing, data extraction, or commercial reuse under CC BY. Please respect the educator, organization, and contact preferences represented in each profile.

Profile information is supplied by educators and may be reviewed before publication. GPEN does not guarantee that every profile is complete, current, or accurate.

Content you submit

You retain your rights in content you submit to GPEN. By submitting profile information, messages, images, links, or other material, you grant GPEN a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, format, index, review, display, and promote that material as needed to operate the site and Network.

You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed to submit the material and that it does not violate law or another person’s rights. Please do not submit confidential or sensitive information in fields intended for public display.

Links and third-party services

GPEN may link to websites, forms, resources, or services operated by others. Those services have their own terms and policies. GPEN does not control or guarantee their availability, security, accuracy, or content, and a link does not imply endorsement.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The site and its content are provided on an “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, GPEN disclaims warranties not expressly stated in these terms, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, GPEN and its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, and affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising from or related to your use of the site. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Suspension and termination

We may restrict, suspend, or terminate access to the site or a Network account when reasonably necessary to protect users, the site, or GPEN; to comply with law; or when we believe these terms have been violated. We will provide notice when practical. Provisions that by their nature should continue—including intellectual-property permissions, disclaimers, limitations, and governing law—will continue after termination.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site, Network, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised version here and update the effective date. Your continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. To the extent permitted by law, disputes arising from these terms or your use of the site will be handled exclusively by the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York.
